About us

Abeneko is a Tanzanian contemporary live performer, singer, songwriter, guitarist, dancer and choreographer. Abeneko’s music is a mix of contemporary East African beats, melodies, funk and Afro-fusion, combined with traditional dance, melodies and rhythms. The music aims to promote Tanzanian traditional and contemporary music, dance and culture.

Abeneko’s music hopes to provide a new perspective to the youth, who are typically inspired by western culture and other music styles. They have not grown up to appreciate their own musical heritage, which is now disappearing as a result.

Abeneko & the positive mind have performed to major festivals around East Africa (Sauti za Busara, Bayimba, Karibu music festival) as well in Germany, Denmark, Finland, South Korea and USA. the band is well known for the energetic and wonderful live performance with story telling, entertaining and strong message that address different issues in the society and culture.

Abeneko is signed under the label of Weka Music Production Management in Tanzania.

Abeneko released his first album known as ‘MAMA CHAMBEWA’ which was officially launched in Doa Doa, Uganda in 2015 and currently successful singeli song and music video TUPISHE, MSHAKUNA, SALAM, KIZAU ZAU feat Khadija Kopa queen of Taraab in Tanzania. Which has been playing on Radio and TV stations in Tanzania, in January 2018

ABENEKO have officially released his 2rd album ‘’WAKATI’’ at

Goethe-Institut, Dar es salaam – Tanzania, The followed up with the 3rd

album ‘’Ukweli’’ in 2020 and then 4th audio album ‘’Bongo fusion’’ relsed

in 2023 and did a tour with in Europe and East Africa.

Abeneko has participated in many dance and music-exchanging projects and performed with his Band of 7 members around in Tanzania at Sauti za Busara music festival-Zanzibar, Bayimba International Art festival – Uganda, Fest Afrika, Ufa Fabrick, Wikiendi Live – Dar es salaam, Barazani at Alliance Fracaise, Goethe-Instute, the Beat festival, Gengeni Music Concert, Chap Chap, Marahaba Swahili Music Festival, Bagamoyo at karibu music festival, Jambiani, Zanzibar, Jinja, Uganda, and etc.

International dance and music performance in countries such as South Korea, USA, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Poland, Holland, Spain, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi and Mozambique.

Besides ABENEKO performing career, he is a co-founder of ASEDEVA www.asedeva.or.tz a non profit art organization base in Tanzania, founder of Haba na Haba Dance Festival in Tanzania and co-founder of Marafiki Music Festivalin Tanzania.
